Blank Texture

2 0 1 7 . 0 2 . 2 0 (Mon.) 〜 2 0 1 7 . 0 6 . 0 3 (Sat.)

The "Blank Effect" is a psychological theory that suggests leaving empty spaces in artworks so that viewers can use their imaginations to recreate and fill in the blanks when they appreciate these works. Like shots of scenery in feature-length films, or the silence of rests during performances of music pieces, or the white spaces deliberately placed in interior designs, these blank spaces provide a space for the viewer to think, thus invoking resonance by captivating the audience.

The "Blank Texture" exhibition can be regarded as a respite from and a reflection of modern day trends. The impact of rapid technological advancement on education is a double-edged sword. Because people have become accustomed to quickly browsing through and filtering information, the way they think and learn has gradually changed. Peaceful reflection is no longer a habit practiced by people in the modern age.

This exhibition will include a series of workshops. The workshops are designed to teach physical development and artistic creation, and nurture children's innate artistic talents through meditation, rhythm and movement classes, games, and large collaborative paintings. We hope to explore future modes of teaching through real-life experience and interaction, which outline a new interpretation of aesthetic appreciation and artistic expression.
